SIMOP AT THE ANTILLES-GUYANA CONFERENCE FOR ON-SITE SANITATION

06/07/2018

Many visitors came to Assises Antilles-Guyane de l'Assises Sanitation Non-Collectif on June 27 and 28. This first meeting in Martinique, organized by the Ideal Connaissances network, took place at the Palais des Congrés in Madiana, an opportunity for players in the on-site sanitation sector to discuss technical and regulatory issues.

A real environmental issue for our territories, the issue of sanitation in the West Indies and Guyana was at the heart of discussions during this event. Indeed, it is estimated at 240 000 the number of inhabitants using an autonomous sanitation system, often failing, or nearly 60% of the population in Martinique. In Guyana, more than 20% of households would discharge their wastewater directly, or after pre-treatment, into the natural environment.

Conferences and working sessions thus punctuated these first Assises in Martinique, with the ambition of sensitizing and informing all the actors: professionals, elected officials and individuals. During these two days, many of you came to meet our SIMOP Caribbean team and discover our new products.
